Marimekko's Autumn/Winter 2009/10

I'm obsessed with Marimekko's Autumn/Winter 2009/10 women collection! Designers Samu-Jussi Koski and Mika Piirainen offer playful and vibrant designs this winter.

Samu-Jussi Koski has been inspired both by brand new designer prints and by treasures found in Marimekko's archive of over 3,000 designs. Maija Isola's cheerful Pergola pattern (1965) charmed Koski with its inimitable Marimekko feel. Another design by Maija Isola in the collection is the graphic Kissapöllö pattern from 1961, featured on garments with soft, rounded lines.

In Mika Piirainen's collection, Maija (and Kristina Isola's Kukkatori pattern) brings summer blooms in the middle of winter. The collection also ventures into the night of space; Maija Isola's Meteori design playfully float on the round shapes of the clothes.

Marimekko was huge in the 70's with artwork and pulled unframed canvas...Why Did I not save something from my high school days?...????
