DIY Rubber Hose Chair

Instructables.com is a website where people share DIY processes. Recently, instructions on how to make your own Rubber Hose Chair have surfaced, like the one seen below.

The idea is so great because it’s a nice example of the modernist goal of making good design accessible to everyone.

See the whole process here.

Haute Couture pt. 2

Just got this posted up on Yatzer- My reviews on the "unofficial" haute couture shows in Paris!

(500) Days of Mixed Emotions

Okay, so I finally saw (500) Days of Summer and - I must admit - I just can't decide how I feel about it. On one hand, it was a completely realistic love story. On the other, do I want to see realistic romantic comedies? Well I thought I did before I saw this movie, but I realized that I am actually a very shallow movie-goer; if it doesn't have a sugar sweet, warm and fuzzy ending, chances are it will leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Let me make this perfectly clear: I'm obsessed with Zooey Deschanel. It's unhealthy. But she was kiiiinda a bitch in this movie! Am I the only one stuggling with these mixes emotions!?

Arquitectura en Proceso

Mexican architects Arquitectura en Proceso have designed the headquarters for Darcons,
a construction company located in Delicias City, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Arctic Rock Collection

Dutch designer Jasper van Grootel has created the Arctic Rock Collection. The uniquely shaped ‘Arctic Rock’ series is a collection of furniture with a facetted surface, completely sculpted out of solid wood and finished with a high gloss polished paintwork. The collection consists of tables, chairs, bar stools, seats and accessories for hotel, restaurant, or home living purposes. The matching ‘Diamond Vase’, made out of Bone China, has been developed in collaboration with Pol’s Potten.

Melbourne Masterpiece

Ashton Raggatt McDougal (ARM) architects completed the design of the Melbourne Recital Center and the neighbouring Melbourne Theater Company helping to transform the formerly derelict Southbank area of the city to the dynamic district it has now become.

The firm has been so successful in their designs of the two buildings that they have been honored with the 2009 Victorian Architecture Medal winning highest accolades in three categories for public architecture, interior design as well as urban design.

The design for the Melbourne Theater Company begins with the dramatic façade: 3D iridescent steel tubing folds and bends against black aluminum cladding – just as an actor brings performance to life against a dark backdrop. The interior is comprised of the Sumner Theater, a 500-seat hall noticeably without a balcony or mezzanine space, but still allowing exceptional site lines to the stage regardless of where your season tickets land you.

The most striking element inside the main theater is the Word Wall – 70 quotes from different plays are illuminated when the stage is dark. The building also houses a full rehearsal hall that can be used as an event space or a smaller performance space, as well as a café and bar at the front of the house. doing what he does best.

Christian Lacroix haute couture F/W.

After voluntarily filing for bankruptcy this year, the Lacroix team had very limited funds and workforce to produce this collection. The result? Nothing short of a cohesive, imaginative and modern collection. I really hope this isn't his last couture show!!

the great Agyness Deyn debate.

A Super Model Who is Of the Moment and Thinking Ahead By Cintra Wilson (NYTimes)
Once or twice a decade, it will befall a young lady of supreme good looks to accidentally embody her moment in time. She becomes the visual articulation of our culture’s unspoken hopes and latent desires: a now-ness that contains the hint of a tantalizing future — to wit: we don’t know what’s next, but whatever it is, it looks like her....Off the runway, much ado was made of her personal fashion sense — a cuted-up variation on the old New Wave with little hats, suspenders and neon accessories, and Web sites were dedicated to the fetishization of what Anna Wintour... read the rest here.

Why Agyness Deyn & Rita from Arrested Development Are the Same Person By Laura Feinstein (
Recently, with heated talks about an Arrested Development movie in the workds rekindling my interest, I’ve been watching a fair amount of the short-lived cult comedy. Sometime around my fourth viewing of season three I started to have an epiphany. In the show, Michael Bluth’s love interest Rita (played hilariously by Charlize Theron), whom the show’s characters had previously thought to just be whimsically eccentric, is revealed to be mentally handicapped. To the viewers of the show, this fact is blatantly obvious — from the insane way she seems to dress (inside out clothing in mismatched patterns, strange hats, bizarre accessories) to the apparent childlike qualities she possesses... read the rest here.

are you ready to have your mind blown? k good.
